Clockwork Zoo

Posted on 19 November 2008 by Josie

Lisa and I visited Liezel Vermeulen at Clockwork Zoo - a television and production company in Longkloof Studios off Kloof Street.

When Liezel told us that they were only a year old, our jaws almost hit the floor! We were staggered by the size of their offices and the sheer amount of staff for such a young company.

Clockwork Zoo are the biggest animation studio in southern Africa: between the animation studio and the live tv shows, they produce about five hours of original programming a week. They have recently facilitated the feature Bollywood film Tasveer and have five more Bollywood films slated for 2009.

Liezel hit the nail on the head when she summed up Clockwork Zoo in the following words: “It’s not called a zoo for nothing!” Clockwork has a creative energy that will nurture your inner child.

All the animals in this zoo are pretty darn proud of their company because they all have a creative space with the company – it’s no wonder their company motto is “imagination at play”.
Everyone at Clockwork Zoo is really creative! We had a TON of fun setting out the tasks for them- check it out!

With four new animation shows in the pipeline, I have a feeling that in a few years Clockwork Zoo may just live up to their inspiration : PIXAR Animation.
